American Angus Association Announces the 10 Florida Breeders who Registered the Most Angus
The 10 producers who registered the most Angus beef cattle in the state of Florida recorded a total of 1228 Angus with the American Angus Association®during fiscal year 2009, which ended Sept. 30, according to Bryce Schumann, CEO of the American Angus Association.
The 10 top recorders in Florida are: Southern Cattle Co, Marianna, 570-head; Country Oaks Angus Ranch, Weirsdale, 282; Jeanne Louise Chitty, Micanopy, 76; Overkill Hill Farms LLC, Lake City, 48; John Benjamin Hill, Marianna, 46-head; Leroy Baldwin, Ocala, 46; RMC Ranch, Arcadia, 45; Journey Circle M Ranch, Howey In The Hills, 40; Van Wagner Cattle, Citra, 38-head; J A Burnette, Kenansville, 37.
Angus breeders across the nation in 2009 registered 282,911 head of Angus cattle. “Our year-end statistics continue to demonstrate strong demand for Angus geneticsand solidify our long-held position as a leader in the beef cattle industry,” Schumann said. “These results underscore our members’ commitment to providing genetic solutions to the beef cattle industry.”

Congratulations to Country Oaks Angus Ranch, Dr. Bill Freel - Recognized First Place Carcass Contest Breeder for the Southeastern Youth Fair. Over 90 steers were in the Ocala, Florida show. Congratulations to Syler Kae Martin for winning the SEYF 2010 Steer Carcass Contest with her steer appropriately named "Doc."
