Bill Freel's Daughter, Erin, Starts Team BEEF Florida

Raised on a farm and instilled with a deep love for the land and cattle, Erin, Doc's oldest daughter loves promoting beef. In the last five years she's raced marathons and triathlons, even doing Ironman Louisville. In 2016 Erin worked with the Florida Beef Council to start Team Beef Florida. Erin serves as the Team Ambassador and endorsed athlete and there are 35 athletes of all types from all over Florida who race and promote beef as a #powerprotein and #fuelforthefinish.

These two outstanding youths won first and second place respectively in the Southeastern Youth Fair Steer Carcass Contest. This popular Marion County show has close to 90 steers competing for this award. Bill Freel (Country Oaks Angus Ranch) was proud to accept the first and second place breeder award for these animals. Great job Syler Kae and Kevin!


Country Oaks Bull at Sysco Southeast Launch

Bill Freel, daughter Erin Freel and granddaughter Riley Rowe attended the launch of the Certified Angus Beef Brand at Sysco Southeast in August. Country Oaks even had a bull on site in Palm Beach Gardens to inspire sales associates to sell Certified Angus Beef. The Freel's also put on a breakout session and answered questions regarding life in a typical Angus cattle operation.




2011 Florida Angus Association Jr. Field Day - Apr. 2011

Over 150 parents, juniors and friends attended the 2011 Jr. Angus Field Day at Country Oaks Angus Ranch in Weirsdale on April 30. Team building activities, writing and speaking contests, and an angus cattle show were just a few of the events that took place on this beautiful spring Florida day.


Maus Family Success - Mar. 2011

Our Congratulations to Dillon and Ashley Maus for their success and hard work at the Sarasota County Fair in March 2011. Ashley won Grand Champion for Beef Breeding for her Bred Cow, from a Country Oaks Dam and Country Oaks Bull. She also won Reserve Grand Champion for her Bull from a Country Oaks Dam and Country Oaks Bull Dillon received Grand Champion for his Bull produced from a Country Oaks Dam and a Country Oaks Bull. Dillion also showed the top-dollar steer (Country Oaks) at the Sarasota County Fair bringing $6.00 per pound. The sale average was $2.75.

Certified Angus BeefCountry Oaks Attends Certified Angus Beef Specialist Seminar in St. Augustine

Erin Freel, daughter of Bill Freel attended the Certified Angus Beef brand's annual foodservice seminar in St. Augustine, Florida. She spoke to the group of 165 about her role as a producer and the positive impact the brand has had on the angus industry. Dinners at CAB events are always delicious. (January 2011)

Certified Angus BeefBill Freel Recognized as First Place Carcass Contest Breeder for Youth Fair

Congratulations to Country Oaks Angus Ranch, Dr. Bill Freel who was recognized with the First Place Carcass Contest Breeder for the Southeastern Youth Fair. Over 90 steers were in the Ocala, Florida show. Congratulations to Syler Kae Martin for winning the SEYF 2010 Steer Carcass Contest with her steer appropriately named "Doc." (February 2010)

The 10 producers who registered the most Angus beef cattle in the state of Florida recorded a total of 1228 Angus with the American Angus Association®during fiscal year 2009, which ended Sept. 30, according to Bryce Schumann, CEO of the American Angus Association. The 10 top recorders in Florida are: Southern Cattle Co, Marianna, 570-head; Country Oaks Angus Ranch, Weirsdale, 282; Jeanne Louise Chitty, Micanopy, 76; Overkill Hill Farms LLC, Lake City, 48; John Benjamin Hill, Marianna, 46-head; Leroy Baldwin, Ocala, 46; RMC Ranch, Arcadia, 45; Journey Circle M Ranch, Howey In The Hills, 40; Van Wagner Cattle, Citra, 38-head; J A Burnette, Kenansville, 37.
