Country Oaks Angus Ranch is a family cattle operation in Weirsdale, Florida.  Dr. Bill Freel has been a large animal veterinarian in Florida for over 35 years.  His lifelong work and passion is cattle.  Raising high quality cattle, that produce great tasting steaks is the goal.  If you’ve always wanted to know where your food comes from and the farm it was produced, you’ve come to the right place. This beef is raised on Country Oaks Angus Ranch.  If you have a family of beef lovers, this is an economic value for your family’s food budget.

The numbers below are an average.  These numbers can vary depending on the final weight of the animal and the types of cuts you choose.  Please see the chart below from Iowa State University extension Beef and Pork Whole Animal Buying Guide.

A 1,200 lb animal will yield approximately 500 lbs of meat after you’ve removed the inedible parts like hide, feet, head, bones and innards.  Therefore a side of beef would generate half that amount of meat or approximately 250 lbs.

A whole or full means you are purchasing meat from an entire animal. Our animals will be approximately 1,200 lbs at slaughter, leaving you with 450-500 lbs of take home meat. This is a great option for a large family or multiple families if you wish to do some “cow-pooling” and split it among friends and family.

1 cubic foot of freezer space will hold approximately 30-32 lbs of frozen beef.

All beef is packaged in cellophane and wrapped in white butcher paper to prevent freezer burn.  Frozen beef will stay fresh for up to a year.

If you’d like to customize your order with specific cut or steak sizes, you are encouraged to do so.  We will put you in direct contact with the butcher when your order has been placed.  If not, our typical WHOLE package includes the following.
